Adik Angel - Electric Song

Her name is Adik Angel, she was born in Bulgaria with a childhood immersed in the shows, rehearsals, opera and classical music concerts. Her father is a classical concert conductor and her mother a classical pianist. She learned classical piano at the age of 9 years and won first prize with distinction in the contest Swiss Youth Music in 1989 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Her gift and inspiration led her quickly to compose her own melodies and songs. Soon, she started a passion about electronic instruments and the pop-rock.culture In 1990 she founded a group called "Les Mousses" with Eduardo Blake Carreno. The group performed in concerts and on regional radio.Between 1992-94 Adik studied three years at the Conservatory of Music in Biel, Switzerland (professional classical music, Piano and Theory).

As she studied contemporary music for a year in Geneva at the ETM, Adik performed as well. Doing public concerts with her breakdance group, she played her own songs with various singers and many times went solo.

Today we catch up with Adik and feature a few new tunes which can be found on her Reverb Music Page. It's still January, but her music page is currently #1 on the local and the national charts.

One of the most intriguing artists to ever break out of the NorthWest hip hop scene, LaMar Trenton is no rookie to the game. As an up and coming artist, he has been perfecting his craft while travelling and performing with his older brother, hip hop artist T-Spade since 1999 . With lyrics that paint a picture of his real life experiences, LaMar brings a style that everyone can relate to. He has seen the up and downs of the game and the world, and is finally ready to share his experiences with the world on his debut album, Late Nights… Early Mornings.

Trenton Hollimon AKA LaMar Trenton brings a lifetime of experiences to the table. He was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada where his father was playing professional football. From there – the road has taken him back to where his family originated in the Deep South (Arkansas), on to Texas, and finally to the State of Washington. As a stand out athlete, LaMar Trenton was presented with numerous football scholarship offers following his senior year of High School. Some of you might know the name Kenny Moore. He was everywhere during the 70's and 80's. You may have seen him on tour with big ticket name like Tine Turner or Elton John. You may have followed his solo career or caught a side gig along the way. Today we catch up with his legacy and welcome you to The Kenny Moore Update.

Kenny has a lovely person and radiated a warmth and generosity that is rare these days. He is widely known a fantastic piano player and his roots were in gospel music. He really worked the stage and Kenny was one of the main essences of a Tina Turner concert.

Kenny was born in Sumter (South Carolina) in 2nd April 1951, at the early age of 4 he started playing piano. His first music school was listening to his mother and aunt playing the piano. He quickly became fascinated and excelled. Before his 5th birthday he starts playing in the Church of Rev. James Cleveland.

In 1973 he works in a special program entitled “We love you madly” for Duke Ellington and records a song with Carly Simon. Then 1976 he composes a soundtrack, “Pipe Dreams” for Gladys Night and The Pips, touring with the band in USA and England.

Back in the USA he worked with Billy Dee Williams playing in a play about Martin Luther King, being the only musician in that show. Los Angeles was great to him when he played with Elton John at the Dodger Stadium. His career and legacy has really been a dream come true.

YaYa - Yahzilla The Movie

Yaya also known as Yahzilla is an emcee and producer from South Jersey, a suburb right outside Philadelphia. Born in Detroit to Somali father Mohamoud and an African American mother Haitaima, the family soon migrated to New Jersey. Yaya and older brother Yasin (who later becomes Violator Allstar Dj Supa) became interested in hip hop at an early age. Even if it was against the wishes of his strict upbringing, Yah began freestyling at the age of 14 and would eventually begin writing at the age of 15 becoming completely obsessed with the art.

At the age of 17 he began entering rap battles, which is the place he decided that he was actually good at rap music because of the crowds reactions when he finally won a competition one night.

Ya Ya was never the one to ask for favors and handouts from producers, Yah decided to save up for his own production equipment and begin making beats for himself. Through failed attempts at college and search for success he never stopped making music, and through his struggle came the creation of his two albums “This is…for you” and “Yahzilla…the Movie”.

With a non mainstream approach to music and a carefree attitude toward what music is “supposed to sound like” Yah developed a style of music that he is comfortable with that you hear today. Being influenced by Jdilla, Madlib, Common, and Mf Doom he aspires to make feel good music that reaches an audience that doesn’t have a voice in the mainstream similar to the ones he looks up to.

R. B. Hitz was born in Chicago, IL as Robert Ervin on May 13, 1987. He was given a gift of singing at birth. Growing up he listened to all kinds of music including R&B, Blues, Classical, and many more different genres. He grew up listening to his uncle's group F.E.W. who was one of the biggest influences in his life.

At the age of 12 R.B Hitz decided to become leader of the band team at William Penn Elementary School and he remained active in the school band until he went to high school. It was then he started recording at the age 12, Doing hooks for local artists throughout the Chicago community.

As a sophomore in high school he was known as "The Choir Boy" at Manley Career Academy. Also throughout that year he attended Columbia College of Chicago for performance Poetry and traveled to Minnesota with Northwest University to speak on Youth and Poverty. Throughout the years Hitz continued to work on his craft and in 2007 he released his first mixtape. The mixtape was titled "Holy City" and featured beats from songs like PSA (Jay-z), Canon (Lil Wayne), and many others. Though Hitz was a singer, he exploited his ability to rap as well.

In 2008, Robert Ervin created his own indie record label called Holy City Records, naming it after the hood he grew up in Chicago (The Holy City). Under his label he signed his brother-in-law Breon Neal (Breezzy) and released an album (A Man, A Myth, A Legend) and another mixtape entitled WHCR- Cold Summer Vol. 1, which was his most successful mixtape under Holy City Records. He has since worked with many other artists in Chicago, Ohio, California, and other regions throughout the US. His highly anticipated album “Day Before Money” was released May 1, 2010 and has seen even more success on the international level. Today Hitz is known throughout the world in places like the U. K., Germany, Japan, S. Africa, and more.

Dance, trance, and techno artist, DJ Digital Girl, has announced the release of her debut album, “TranceDuction.” The release represents the first full album for the producer and composer, and the culmination of three years of intense recording.

Released on Dec. 7, 2010, “TranceDuction” has officially made it to music outlets and features nine completely new creations. The album also includes three of the independent artist’s previously released singles. The composer is already working on tracks for her second and third albums of electronic dance music, slated for release in the latter part of 2011, and she’s scheduled to tour throughout the year.

DJ Digital Girl is one of the most promising new independent artists and electronic dance music composers on the scene today. Her musical acumen encompasses electronic dance, techno and trance music. Tracks on her debut album have intriguing titles, such as “Winter Flame,” “Amity,” “River Walk” and “Luminosity,” and offers a glimpse into the great things to come from the rising new composer.

Well known music producer, Alex Ozen, works with artists from various music labels in multiple genres. He was impressed with the artist’s compositions and technique.

“DJ Digital Girl filled her album, “TranceDuction,” with beautiful, cosmic melodies, pleasant synths and a few forgotten trance music atmospheres from the early trance era,” said Ozen. “I think that classic trance fans will be as pleased as new trance fans with this album. DJ Digital Girl was introduced to trance and techno music by accident, through a gift from a special friend who has been tremendous influence to her. She was immediately hooked. She listened to everything she could find in the genre. It didn’t take long for the artist to make the leap from listening to the music to composing her own electronic melodies.

The artist invested many years in learning the music business and creating her own unique brand of techno and dance music from scratch. She had music singing through her soul, but no formal training other than learning to play keyboard as a child. Even attending university, studying biology for her undergrad and pressure from friends and family couldn’t silence the music for DJ Digital Girl.
“It’s a huge learning curve and very much an expense-driven profession and industry,” said DJ Digital Girl. “I’m a self-promoter and marketer. Hailing from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania this east coast native was raised by wolves and surrounded by Beatles records. Today Pat Smith is making records of his own and with Goodbye, Goodnight, Pat Smith has accomplished something that most artists may only have dreams of accomplishing.

Pat Smith recorded an album that's great listening from start to finish. When you start off on your lucid journey with the album, you are immediately whisked to that parallel world where every person in the room, car, or bar, sways his or her head from side to side in rhythmic unison - not to be confused with that other world where everyone fist pumps air to inflate their imaginary high-wheel bicycle tire. By the end of the project known as 'Goodbye, Goodnight' you have docked the yellow submarine and are "hooing" and "haahing" your way to the nearest electronic device so that you may update your social status to "Found new band, soooo in love" and then rush back to your tunebox.

It is evident while listening to Goodbye, Goodnight that it has something to say. The subject matter is not very different from any conversation lasting more than thirty minutes, but it is the delivery of the subject matter that conjures the poetic essence. Pat Smith gives testimony to the trials and triumphs of mortality in a manner that exudes an aura of nonchalance - an aura which is the initial reason for a listener to patron a particular great band or artist in the first place.

What's refreshing about Smith's album is that each song flows effortlessly into the other in a way that distinctively ebbs with the listener's stream of consciousness. The album succeeds in finishing your sentences, dotting your i's and crossing your t's, and it does this much better, it may be said, than your high-school sweetheart. As you listen, there is no desire to skim the album and skip forward to the chorus, or even the next song, and this is particularly due to the fact that you will undoubtedly feel like you will sabotage your own listening pleasure by doing so. Meet Ryan Swanzey

He is a singer-songwriter who plays several instruments, but he has never taken any formal lessons. Ryan Swanzey started playing bass guitar when he was 13 and moved onto acoustic and then electric guitar at 15. Ryan also sung and played drums, mandolin, keyboard and trombone. He graduated Elon University in 2010, and because he was lucky enough to work two flexible jobs, Ryan recently decided to pursue music professionally.

Ryan Swanzey has already begun playing several venues in nearby Greensboro and Raleigh-Durham NC, and he is eager to share his music and work with the world.

As a self taught guitarist he learned by almost exclusively studying John Frusciante's playing and songwriting for his first three years, learning from both the Red Hot Chili Peppers and his solo catalog. "Frusciante's influence is all over most every song I write." says Ryan, "It's not just in terms of technique, but approach to guitar and music as well." There are countless guitarists who can play more complicated licks, shred faster, etc., but Frusciante is a very emotional guitarist who believes he isn't the source of any of the music or energy, but rather the middleman between its source and his amp. Obviously he is a student of many other great guitarists (Hendrix, Page, Morello, Eddie Hazel, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez), but that approach and philosophy about music is extremely important to him as well as responsible for all the parts of songs that mean something to him.

Synthpop is a slowly growing music genre in today's musical tastes. Combining heavy bass, crisp keyboards, smooth guitar, and beautiful vocals, Figures at Dawn is a great listen. Every day you hear more and more artists adding keyboards and synthesized drums in their music, and it has been met with general positivity from the public. Figures at Dawn is a fantastic representation of Synthpop today.

Call it "melodic cool" if you wish. In the past, the group received national radio airplay, award nominations, and positive reviews in the press, but never broke out of the Toronto indie scene due to being such a unique and unusual blend of music in a time when musical tastes were pretty black and white.

The male group equivalent to Figures at Dawn would most certainly be likened to The Postal Service, and Death Cab for Cutie, with a definitive electronic spin added. If you like any of these groups, Figures at Dawn is certainly a group to check out. If you have any spark of interest whatsoever, checking out the website is a fantastic introduction into the group. At the website, you can actually listen to a few songs, taking in the beautiful visuals as you become absorbed in the haunting beat and melodic flow that the music carries you away on. Also on the website is a section where you can actually see some of the videos from the group, which is truly an experience all on its own.

Filled with beautiful imagery, flashing lights, and overall fascinating visuals, the videos are all fantastic in their own right. Videos like this deserve to be appreciated as a form of art, because that's really what it is, along with the music. Fantastic art. An eclectic group made of some of Canada's great musical talent, Suzanne Palmer steals the show with her amazing vocals, while songwriters and musicians Aaron Allan, Ray Walsh, and Paul Caspar work together in amazing unison to create truly unique musical experience that one simply has to hear. Like any group, Figures at Dawn is not everyone's cup of tea, but the group really is a breath of fresh air in a sometimes over saturated musical world, and it's always nice to find new and exciting music in a sea of mediocrity. Linda Ngcobo (born May 3, 1982), better known by his stage name, Masta-Li, is a South African Hip Hop Artist, Song Writer, Singer and Record Producer and CEO of Masta-Li Grind Entertainment.

Masta-Li was born Linda Ngcobo and was raised in KwaMakhutha, Durban. Masta-Li started writing rhymes at the age of 16, with big influences from listening to Mason “Mase” Betha, Sean “ P Diddy” Combs and others. Eventually, he got the courage and rapped his rhymes on his first demo at the University of KZN with 3 friends that were doing their musical careers there.

He then met Skandalas from C-Elements, also a rapper and record producer, and briefly associated with the group on a number of collaborations and performances. Masta-Li attended Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, Durban. Even when he was in med school, he would write down everything that came to mind. Even when he wasn’t rapping, he would write. It was something he did in his spare time. He could not flourish lyrically in a structured school environment, but that did not stop him from making music.

After finishing medical school, Masta-Li was determined to set up his own recording studio and label. He then set up a recording studio at his own house in Pinetown, Durban. He has since worked with Joe Nina, N.K., L.T., Genius, Malum’ Cansela and many more unsigned artists.

Giovannie Pierre-Louis, better known as Gio, is a true representation of an individual whose life’s obstacles set her up to do nothing but win extremely big. Her life story unfolds like a well-scripted movie:

Placed on a winding road full of betrayal, grief and self-hatred that, despite being dependent on “a system that’s designed to fail,” she detours to a path illuminated by hope and the creation of a fairytale ending.

The streets grabbed Gio’s attention and the life she began to live was reckless, following a road map for destruction. She became a true menace to her mother and was sent to live in Haiti.

When she returned to New York, she found herself very lonely at the ripe young age of 15. She had to take care of her younger sister, Cassandra, which forced her to grow up quickly. In 2003 Gio’s world came crashing down. Her younger sister, who was the only person in Gio’s world, was killed in a fire at the age of 15. She struggled for years afterward with guilt and grief. She began battling with her weight while dealing with all the stress and trauma. Gio grew to over 450 pounds. She no longer cared about herself and went into deep depression.

Gio discovered a new passion for life. After the destructive earthquakes in her home country Haiti, she inherited the music studio that her family had been running for years. She found a new love for music. A way for her be self-expressive and escape from her troubled reality. Gio began to use her talents and ingenuity, and as she let her creativity flow she began to write and produce her own music.

Gio wants her music to be heard around the world to promote Haiti and to also continue her sister Cassandra’s creative musical legacy. Gio’s music’s universal edge bridges many gaps. It ranges from Neo-Soul, to Jazz, to R&B and Hip-Hop – but there’s no limit to the sounds Gio is bringing forth as she draws inspiration from her life’s lessons and blessings.

Her intentions are clear: to keep Haiti on people’s minds through her musical expressions and to make Gio a household name in the process.

At the age of six, she was discovered by a local newspaper and that gave TENAJ the chance to be in a national beauty contest, which She won. Ever since she has been taking over the world one fan at a time.

When she was just twelve, she worked with a fashion designer and promoted their clothing line for about one year. By the age of thirteen, she started to get into dancing and modeling at hair fashion shows for the hair line "Strauss".

As a music lover she eventually started to rap and sing becoming the first local female rapper in St. Gallen, Switzerland. TENAJ continued to do local shows and nn 1997 she won her first beauty pageant on Swiss national television singing a Swiss traditional song with three other girls. Soon after it was a late night talk show in Switzerland, Then a stop in Germany to performe in a live-musical.

Somehow TENAJ wound up in the L.A. Music Academy and has been working in the studio on different projects ever since. TENAJ had her proudest moment with the release of her first album TENA'CIOUS in April 2007. Then 2008 was the year she launched her first clothing line.
That year As a Model she was ranked top 100 Hottie by NextorNot (out of 120,000 people), continued to make various radio appearances promoting Tena'cious.

Now a regular on the Chicago Blues scene for over four decades, "Killer" Ray has been an integral tour-de-force in bands by Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Koko Taylor, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells. With a reputation as the hardest hitting drummer in the blues world, "Killer" has turned down gig offers from Eric Clapton, John Mayall & the late Gary Moore, so he could fully focus his energies toward leading a band. In 1998 and 2000, Ray was nominated for the W. C. Handy award as an instrumentalist.

SCOTT DIRKS (HARMONICA/VOCALS): Award winning blues historian, instrumentalist & producer. Scott authored "Blues With A Feeling-The Little Walter Story" and produced Lurrie Bell's breakthrough "Mercurial Son" for Delmark Records. A walking compendium of Chicago Blues history and lore, Dirks is an accomplished harp player whose minimalist approach keeps alive the memory of Sonny Boy, Little Walter & Big Walter.

DEITRA FARR (VOCALS): Deitra Farr is considered one of Chicago ’s top vocalists, according to Living Blues Magazine (May 1997). Fiery, energetic, she has been nominated for Traditional Female Blues artist of the year by the W.C. Handy Awards, Female Blues Artist of the year by the Living Blues Critics Awards, the British Blues Connection Awards, and the Les Trophees France Blues awards. Deitra is also a published writer, poet, songwriter, and painter, who has written articles for the Chicago Defender, Chicago Blues Annual, and currently she has a column “Artist to Artist” in Living Blues Magazine.

JOHNNY B. GAYDEN (BASS/VOCALS): Johnny B's music career as Chicago's first-call bass player, is one that most musicians can only dream about. He recorded nine CDs and numerous DVDs with Albert Collins. The band won a Grammy Award for the Alligator recording "SHOWDOWN" with Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland and Robert Cray. After Albert's death in 1993, Johnny focused on session work, and his career tally is close to 100 recordings. Johnny is a nine-time W.C. Handy nominee for the Instrumentalist-Bass category. Johnny Alegre's pioneering musical projects contribute progressively towards bringing an emergent Southeast Asian and particularly Philippine milieu to the attention of musical audiences local and foreign; defying barriers of genre, demographics and cultural stereotypes.

Alegre’s involvement in the Manila scene encompasses scores of bands and recording projects, spanning more than three decades of history and discography in seminal “pinoy rock”, his early production sorties in classic OPM (Original Pilipino Music), and the epiphany in jazz. In various capacities as composer-arranger, record producer and performing musician, his protean roles have been none short of groundbreaking.

In 2002, Johnny Alegre formed what effectively became Manila’s premier jazz collective, the "Johnny Alegre AFFINITY" (with bassist Colby de la Calzada, drummer Koko Bermejo, pianist Elhmir Saison and saxophonist Tots Tolentino as co-founding members), which initiated a series of musical chairs that continue until the present. His performances with AFFINITY spanned the breadth of Manila’s high profile clubs and concert venues in modular formats of trios, quartets and quintets. Their first recorded work, “Stones Of Intramuros”, written by Alegre, was included in a limited edition Philippine jazz anthology CD, Adobo Jazz Vol.1, that caught the attention of the London-based jazz specialty label, Candid Records.

Subsequently, the eponymous first album, “Johnny Alegre AFFINITY” was released in the Philippines in mid-2005, described by the local press as “a blend of musical, technical and communal creativity between the composer and his allies”. The opus was subsequently re-released in the U.K. as “Jazzhound”, with notices in British jazz publications, and capped by two sold-out engagements (with guest saxophonist, Dimitri Vassilakis) in London’s PizzaExpress Jazz Club. In 2008, Alegre unfolded “Eastern Skies”, an album set to the framework of an orchestral backdrop by the Global Studio Orchestra (conducted by Gerard Salonga; arranged by Ria Villena-Osorio). It was his response to the clamor for even more innovative music from “Manila’s jazz superband”. Alegre’s introduction to a mainstream American jazz audience in Hollywood’s Catalina Bar in December 2007 earned him a favorable notice in the Los Angeles Times, particularly some kind words from journalist Don Heckman and the music historian Ashley Kahn.

In pursuit of these encouragements, 2009 was the year of “Johnny Alegre 3”, Alegre’s third outing: a U.S. trio recording of the guitarist-composer joined by Billy Hart (drums) and Ron McClure (bass). “3” was the follow through to what became a breakthrough effort for the Philippine jazz artist to work with iconic American jazz musicians. Billy Hart played drums for the Montgomery Brothers (Buddy with brothers Wes and Monk), and recorded with Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter and Miles Davis. He was with the groundbreaking Herbie Hancock Sextet, and much later with the Saxophone Summit (Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano and the late Michael Brecker). Ron McClure played for the classic Charles Lloyd Quartet with Keith Jarrett and Jack de Johnnette, and was a co-founder of the experimental jazz group, The Fourth Way. He joined Blood, Sweat & Tears in the 1970s, and which won him a Grammy nomination. Together with Billy Hart, Ron McClure joined Quest, led by David Liebman, that still performs currently. The album, “3”, also marked Johnny Alegre’s migration to his new home and record label, MCA MUSIC (Philippines) of the Universal Music Group.

On the collaborative front, Johnny Alegre recently delivered his world-music suite composition, “Humanfolk”, the ensuing recordings and the subsequent concept band he undertook with the New York based avant-garde percussionist and indigenous music advocate, Susie Ibarra. Together with Ibarra’s husband, drummer Roberto Juan Rodriguez, with innovative Philippine-based musical artists and collaborators, singer-composer Cynthia Alexander, the sound designer, Malek Lopez and the later addition of vocalist-keyboardist Abby Clutario, the world music opus, HUMANFOLK, was released by MCA Music in May, 2011.

Juan Bautista H. Alegre (III) attended the University of the Philippines College of Music in the latter 1970s, studied composition and was a founding member of the U.P. Jazz Ensemble. Under the tutelage of jazz educator Dr. Joseph Howard and pianist Fred Robles, he further participated in creative workshops conducted by visiting professors such as musicologist-composer Dr. Erhard Karkoschka from the Stuttgart Musikschule, British guitarist Ike Isaacs and composer-scholar Chou Wen-chung from Columbia University. This is an exciting time for those to hear the musical stories of Johnny Alegre, who had emerged as a compleat musician and exponent of a distinctive and very personal musical statement that is both Philippine, Asian and Global.

Ariel de lion re-united with the brothers Vaknus (as the guitarist) and Adi (as the drummer).

Chief Kamachi is an American hip hop artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the frontman of the The Juju Mob hip hop ground and one of the originial memebers of hip hop supergroup Army Of The Pharaohs.

This is a music production project started in 2010 by Elias Jahn a classically trained musician who just finished university and played in two Jazz bands aswell as in several classic music ensembles, especially featuring his main instrument, the guitar. He claims to have always loved writing music and trying to bridge different styles, so he started this project.

Having published 4 tracks until now, the idea is to produce several singles over time, with the ambitious objective of merging different styles, genres and sounds following one common concept and joining all this together into a full album one day.

Ranging from Bossa Nova, funky JazzFusion or electronic music with enigmatic vocals to peaceful acoustic instrumental music inviting you to relax, the overall style could most correctly be situated somewhere between Chill-out, Downtempo and Ambiente.

All tracks are original compositions and while Elias participates in several ways in some of the tracks, He especially invite several great musicians to play and record quite a few different instruments. Actually always on the look for talented musicians who want to work .

Featuring classical guitar, piano, saxophone, euphonium, clarinet, jazz guitar, female and male voices, every track has a different feel and ambience, but always keeping a smart connection between all of them. Samples, recording, mixing and production is all done by Elias, employing professional audio production software, always learning better solutions and getting those important tips from friends who work in recording studios.

This project has been a very interesting journey, starting from zero not more than a year ago, not only does he have 4 songs ready for distribution as it also is starting to reach many different people around the planet bringing him some great feedback and some very useful critics aswell.
